5 Reasons Why You Should Exercise in the Morning
Exercise is something we all want but are still far away from. It helps you to improve your mood, fights illness, and increases your energy. Here are 5 good reasons why you should exercise in the morning.
1. Sleep Better
“After dark, the sky is harsh. But even when I wake up in the morning, the sky is good” -Jesse James
When you spend hours curled up in bed, you’re prone to having a hard time getting comfortable in bed. Getting more sleep makes you feel better throughout the day. This is one reason why you should work out in the morning. According to the study done by researchers at Wake Forest University, people who exercise in the morning are more prone to “being in a more relaxed mood.”
A study has also shown that exercise promotes the release of the mood booster melatonin and reduces the adrenaline levels associated with waking up. This means you can wake up with a smile on your face the very first day of your day. This is a great feeling to have, and you can rest a little easier when you lay in bed as the sun is coming up.
2. Relieves Symptoms of Depression
For those of you suffering from a variety of ailments, morning exercise can be highly beneficial. Learning to move is important when you suffer from a mental condition. When you don’t move much, there can be an isolating effect. You don’t feel like yourself, you don’t get the energy to interact with others, and you tend to be depressed.
If you’re low on motivation, simply go for a walk. You’ll be immediately struck by the sun, a great thing to have during the winter months. You’ll also be more in control of the weather, having more control over the time in which you wake up in the morning. It might be so much more enjoyable than waking up in the dead of night. At least it’s your choice, you’re free to opt in or out!
3. Study Time
We all love studying when we’re awake. Schoolwork doesn’t come easy. We have to master the subject so we can pass our exams. However, you need to be careful when you’re learning all throughout the day. In order to study for hours at a time, you’ll have to wake up early, which leaves you more susceptible to checking on your phone. Therefore, it’s essential to check in with your teachers before you check out for the day. When you’re just starting your morning workout, getting to school can seem a little difficult, as you’ll have to keep checking the webpage of your school to see when you’ll be on the classroom’s timetable. There’s also a delay between when your alarm goes off and when you can get to the classroom, especially when you’re pushing yourself. However, if you use Google to check on the location of your classroom, it’s far easier to get there before you even wake up. This way, you won’t have to bother checking your phone as much, which makes you much happier overall.
4. Fuel Your Beat
If you’re a morning-loner, then your only form of fuel might be a cup of coffee. However, we all know that morning coffee doesn’t necessarily improve your mood. I’ve noticed that morning exercise has been proven to improve your mood dramatically. Even just a 20 minute walk can do wonders for your mental health. You wake up with a lot more motivation to complete your tasks and get things done.
You’ll also get a huge health boost. Because of the increased metabolism during morning exercise, it’s unlikely you’ll be consuming as much water. You’ll also get rid of that liquid weight you were carrying before you became more active. Research has also shown that exercise lowers blood pressure. In other words, morning exercise can do wonders for your health.
5. Gets you Moving
As human beings, we want to get into motion. We want to move to feel better and feel better; both mentally and physically. Waking up early gives you the boost of energy you need to get your morning workout done. You may not be able to fit into a gym, but there are many free exercise classes available. There’s also a huge range of machines, which can be set up in your home. The results can be incredible.
Walking in the sun, getting out of bed, and getting out of your house may seem like the stuff of fiction, but without proper exercise you’ll end up with a host of ailments. When you’re getting your full dose of exercise every morning, it helps your mood. No wonder you’ll wake
